Concept

A house on a coastal site, drawn to sit low against the shoreline rather than on top of it. The plan turns its back on the approach and opens the full width of the living level to the water.

Horizontal roof planes and deep terraces do the shading. Solid walls face the neighbours and the wind, while glazing runs uninterrupted along the seaward side. The lower level is set into the ground, so the house reads as one storey from the land and two from the beach.
